Artist's Comments

a friend, Tanya, who told me her story of waking one morning, when she was a child, and realizing that she wasn't a secret princess with another family and another life, but only herself, and that's all she ever would be.

oil on canvas.

Not A Princess by ~ClawryArt is a story that we all should be familar with, how many of us have secretly dreamed only to wake. A lovely piece that I feel very much reflects the simplicity of the world through the eyes of a child. (Suggested by =Offering and Featured by !Subversive-imaginati)

This makes me sad and nostalgic :sniff:
But it's really beautiful, I love the sunbeams coming in through the window and the pretty princess dress!

Blame it on my youth
:iconclawryart:
thanks!
(sometimes, though, i still think Tanya and I couldn't both be princesses)

I love how you captured the feel of both fantasy and reality simultaneously

What a wonderful gift to give form to another's memory :) I have a few vivid scenes in my mind derived from the stories of others, I truly love the way you frame your world as art.
:iconclawryart:
Thanks again!

Actually, Tanya is still a bit princessesy, y'know ..

Sometimes you don't feel real, and I wonder if you're something I dreamed of to make the lonely nights easier to overcome...

...I don't go back on promises.

Reminds me of The Little Princess.

It's far too easy to pull the wool over the eyes of sheep who yield in the stead of mediocrity. They'll never realize they've seen it before.

Lovely. Truly, you have captured the spirit of being a little girl. Beautiful.

I noticed, though, her hands are a wee bit disproportional, erring on the side of small. I don't have much room to talk, tho. I have the same problem. Hence why I avoid drawing/painting hands as much as possible.
